Challenge Testing is proud to play a key role in water infrastructure development in the Mariana Islands. Our team is currently performing groundwater monitoring well drilling to support the design and future installation of groundwater development wells—ultimately providing clean, reliable drinking water to communities in the region.
What Are Groundwater Monitoring Wells?
Groundwater monitoring wells are specially drilled wells that allow our team to:
- Observe groundwater levels and flow directions
- Take water samples to evaluate quality
- Assess the hydraulic properties of the aquifer (how water moves underground)
This data provides engineers and environmental experts with the information needed to design groundwater development wells that are both efficient and sustainable.
Why This Matters in the Marianas
On island communities like Saipan and Guam, freshwater access is both limited and vital. Monitoring wells help ensure that future water development won’t overdraw or contaminate the aquifer, thereby protecting long-term water availability and public health.
These wells are also used alongside production wells to monitor the impact of pumping and verify that drinking water remains safe and within environmental standards.
Our Role
By drilling and installing monitoring wells, Challenge Testing is helping lay the foundation for smarter water management and improved quality of life across the Marianas. This work supports not just infrastructure growth, but also the environmental responsibility that comes with it.
Clean water starts below the surface and that’s exactly where we’re working.
