Available Positions
Geotechnical Driller and Driller Assistants
Challenge Testing Inc.is looking for experienced Geotechnical Drillers along with dependable candidates willing to learn. Most job assignments are outdoor project sites located in Mobile, AL and the surrounding area. Drilling crews come to the shop in the morning to pick up their assignments and supplies, then head out to the locations and complete the job as instructed. Some of the duties are as followed:
- Use drilling equipment to drill into the ground to retrieve soils samples
- Ensures accurate visual inspections of soil samples
- Logs inspection results for reporting purposes
- Holding the drill rod during the drilling process
- Responsible for loading and unloading drilling equipment in and out of the company vehicle
- Drives company vehicle to and from work sites
- Communicates effectively with clients, employees, and supervisors
- Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects.
- Participate in pre-task planning.
- Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects
- Comply with site-specific and/or corporate health and safety plan and wear appropriate safety equipment.
- Performing basic maintenance on drill rigs as well as support vehicle maintenance
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience in geotechnical drilling
- Experience in instrumentation installation and wireline rock coring preferred
- Must be able to follow verbal instructions
- Basic computer skills required
- Willingness to submit to alcohol and drug screen
- Willingness to submit to background check
- Able to meet minimum physical requirements needed to carry out the job. Including, but not limited to: lifting up to 75 lbs., standing for long periods of time, kneeling, crawling, and balancing
- Ability to manipulate with hands to screw and unscrew equipment, operate tools and machinery
- Must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions
- Ability to occasionally travel and stay overnight, work flexible schedules including overtime, based on the company workload
- Valid CDL is preferred

- Utilize hollow-stem auger and mud-rotary methods, including undisturbed (Shelby Tube Sampling), marine sediment sampling, & vibracore sampling.

NDT Technician Level II
NDT Technician Level II
Challenge Testing is looking for qualified NDT Level II Technicians in Mobile, AL. Requirements include but may not be limited to:
- Must be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method in which certified and willing to maintain up-to-date competency relevant to the position.
- Must be familiar with or willing to familiarize themselves with the codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the method as utilized by the employer.
- Work with minimal supervision
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Obtain and analyze information skillfully
- Edit and present numerical data effectively
- Able to set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment
- Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection
- Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
- Interpret radiographs, cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters and visual indicators
- Organize and report test results
- Perform specialized inspections
- Willingness to provide mentoring and on-the-job-training (OJT) for NDT certification of other Inspectors
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management

Assitant NDT Technician
Assistant NDT Technician Challenge Testing is looking for assistant NDT Technicians in Mobile, AL. Requirements include but may not be limited to:
- Assist Level II Technician with all inspection methods
- Assist Level II Technician with setting up and maintaining equipment
- Follow and adhere to industrial radiation procedures set forth by the company, state, and federal governing bodies
- Maintain and control safe work practices set forth by the company, state, and federal regulations
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
